Golden Temple also known as sh Harminder Sahib is situated in a city name Amritsar in Punjab Province of India.Originally a small lake in the midst of a quiet forest, the site has been a meditation retreat for wandering mendicants and sages since deep antiquity. The Buddha is known to have spent time at this place in contemplation. Two thousand years after Buddha's time, another philosopher-saint came to live and meditate by the peaceful lake. This was Guru Nanak (1469-1539), the founder of the Sikh religion.

                                                         HOW TO REACH

 

 

 

By Train

 

You can reach Amritsar and after that you can take cab or an auto to Golden Temple otherwise free shuttle service is always available.It will take 9 minutes and is around 2 kms in distance.

 

 

By Air

 

The nearest airport is Amritsar itself and inorder to reach temple you can take a cab from there.It will take 30 minutes and is 13 kms away.

 

 

By Bus/Own Transport

 

If the mode is bus then auto rikshaw will be better because it is not far from there and if you are coming on your own vehical then you better be happy to park near the golden temple but from bus stand(ISBT) the distance is 2 kms and will take 10 minutes.
